Nutrition Consultant to Food Industry

Rachel is a fully qualified nutritionist with over 10 years of experience in the food and health industries in New Zealand and overseas.

With a keen interest in exercise and nutrition from an early age, Rachel attained a Bachelor of Physical Education and a Bachelor of Science majoring in Human Nutrition from the University of Otago.  After completing her degrees in 1996 Rachel was then chosen to take a place on the New Zealand Dairy Board graduate marketing programme, predominantly based in South East Asia.

From this time Rachel has been passionate about using her nutrition knowledge to assist food industry to effectively market their products while ensuring the consumer also receives safe and accurate information on the food they are eating. Along with Fonterra, Rachel has worked in the export of the health supplements brand Nutra-Life Health and Fitness, as well as nutrition support to the iconic kiwi brand Heinz Wattie’s and a number of smaller companies both in New Zealand and overseas. Rachel also spent time managing a collaborative Ministry of Health project, led by the Heart Foundation NZ, to assist food industry with sodium reduction.

Her work experience has built up a vast repertoire of skills including developing marketing strategy and communications material, programme and stakeholder management, product development and commercialisation, writing scientific literature reviews, advising on food labelling and the Food Standards Code, export regulations, business development and data analysis.

Rachel enjoys being able to work with a variety of people and food products and loves the excitement of seeing a new product come to life and take it’s place on shelf. She believes it is possible to achieve a unique platform for your product and make it stand out whilst working within the regulations that help keep the consumer happy and safe.
